Open acricultural fields surrounded by forest. Good place for local birds, especially in April-June.
Asemantien Pellot is located in the middle of acricultural landscape. The fields are bordered by forest in the south and east. West of the area flows the river Torne that defines the border between Finland and Sweden. You can observe many typical local bird species. Among the birds you can see are European Golden Plover, Whimbrel, Common Redshank, Eurasian Oystercatcher, Whooper Swan, Western Yellow Wagtail, Hen Harrier, Short-eared Owl and many more, see the birdlist below.
Asemantien Pellot is located on the border between Finland and Sweden, 15 km south of the town of Pello. You can reach the place by car and park on the side of the road. Click on the P in the map for directions.
