Description
Update 2025. This Fish Farm has been taken over by a company specialising in kids' activities and they have built many wooden structures. I am no longer living in El Gouna so cannot comment on how it is now for birdlife or whether the ponds are full with fish. There has been a few music events held here too. A new water desalination plant has been built closer to the highway so I am not sure about water levels anymore.
The Fish Farm was established over 30 years ago to process the brackish water from the nearby water desalination plant. With plenty of fish in the ponds it attracts many waders, and kingfishers and regular visits from Osprey. Among the other birds you can observe are Pied Kingfisher, Common Kingfisher, Grey Heron, Western Reef Egret, Little Egret, Striated Heron, Squacco Heron, House Sparrow, Common Chiffchaff, Caspian Tern, Cattle Egret, Laughing Dove, Nile Valley Sunbird, Eastern Olivaceous Warbler and Bluethroat.
