Description
Strødam Engsø is a restored wetland and wet meadow area. It’s part of the larger Kongernes Nordsjælland National Park. Originally drained for agriculture, the area was re-flooded as part of a major restoration project. The result is a mosaic of reed beds, open water, and wet meadows that now support over 200 recorded bird species, including White-tailed Eagle, Osprey, Western Marsh Harrier, Hen Harrier, Red Kite, Common Snipe, Common Shelduck, Gadwall, Little Grebe, Common Cuckoo, Eurasian Oystercatcher, Northern Lapwing, Thrush Nightingale and Reed Bunting. The site is especially interesting during migration seasons, when flocks of geese and shorebirds pass through.
