Description

Kampa Park is located on the west bank of the Vltava River, not far from the island "Střelecký ostrov", near Petřín Park. In addition to the museum and gallery of the same name, it is a popular place for a picnic or an afternoon walk, so a higher number of visitors can be expected. The park consists mainly of taller trees and well-maintained asphalt paths. In addition to waterfowl such as Tufted Duck, Eurasian Coot, Gadwall, Eurasian Moorhen, Black-headed Gull, Grey Heron, Great Cormorant, Mallard and a large number of swans, songbirds can also be observed in the park. Especially Eurasian Blue Tit and Blackbird can be found here almost all the time.

Occasionally, you can also catch a glimpse of Great Tit, Long-tailed Tit, European Robin, Wren, Eurasian Nuthatch, Eurasian Green Woodpecker, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Eurasian Treecreeper, Willow Warbler, Grey Wagtail, and many others. There are abundant species of corvids here such as Jackdaw, Rook and Magpie. With a little luck, you'll even see a Common Kingfisher fly by.

If you head to Petřín, where there is relatively more vegetation (bushes), you will also be able to observe species such as Lesser Whitethroat, Marsh Tit, Wood Warbler and after spring, abundant numbers of European Goldfinch. Quite common here among predators are Sparrowhawk and Eurasian Kestrel.

Access

Parking is possible in the adjacent streets, and parking payments can be made via the "Moje Praha" application. Tram stops No. 9, 12, 15, 20 and 22 are also located in the vicinity of the park. Kampa and Petřín parks are best explored on foot or by using the paid bike rental service "Rekola" using a mobile application.

Waterfowl can also be observed from the adjacent Střelecký ostrov or by renting a boat. A walk in Kampa Park itself takes approximately 15-20 minutes, as it is smaller, so it is worth combining the activity with Střelecký ostrov or Petřín. Petřín is naturally uphill, so you have to be prepared to get a little warm and climb a few stairs. In addition, there are public toilets everywhere.
