Evretou Dam is the third largest dam in Cyprus. The reservoir attracts many birds.
Evretou Reservoir lies at an altitude of 165 meter and attracts birds like Long-legged Buzzard, Bonelli's Eagle, Blue Rock Thrush Chukar, Black Francolin, Great Spotted Cuckoo, Black-winged Stilt, Common Snipe, Wood Sandpiper, Squacco Heron, Eurasian Hoopoe, European Roller, Eastern Olivaceous Warbler and more. The reservoir at Evretou can be one of the most productive wetland sites in the west of Cyprus. The neck-end of the reservoir usually has shallow marshy areas for waders and herons.
You can make different stops around the reservoir. The best area for birding is marked on the map. Click on the P on the map to get directions. The road here usually continues across the valley over a bridge with pools and marshes either side, but can be flooded sometimes.
