Marsh near Varna-Devnya Canal. An attractive place for wintering waterfowl. Great Bittern and Pygmy Cormorant, migration stop-over for waders and other.
Small marsh on the southern bank of Varna-Devnya Canal, with water vegetation and grasslands and agricultural lands around. Attractive in winter time for Great Bittern, Tundra Swan, Pygmy Cormorant and numbers of waterfowl species, including Smew, Common Pochard, Common Goldeneye, Red-breasted Merganser and other. During migration periods storks and pelicans pass over the site, many wader species roost and feed in the marsh, including Marsh Sandpiper, Common Snipe, Common Greenshank, Spotted Redshank and other. During summer Purple Heron, Little Bittern, in some years - Ruddy Shelduck, Ferruginous Duck and other.
Follow the Road 9004 from Varna to Beloslav and on the highest part, at about 3 km before Beloslav one can see the marsh and stop there. There is enough place to park the car and later to watch from the panorama point there or to walk and explore the area.
