Description
The landscape around Ivaylovgrad Reservoir has a mosaic of habitats consisting of bushes, trees and grassy vegetation on the bank of this large fresh-water body with shallow water along the banks. An interesting combination of dry habitats and a wetland. In spring and summer the site can produce good views of Barred Warbler and Eastern Orphean Warbler. During the migration periods (March-May and July-October) Garganey, Black-winged Stilt, Avocet, Green Sandpiper and other birds can be observed. In winter time Mute Swan, Common Shelduck, Goosander and other waterfowl is possible.
Other birds that can been observed include Squacco Heron, Griffon Vulture, Black Kite, White-tailed Eagle, Little Owl, Eurasian Hoopoe, European Bee-eater, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Golden Oriole, Red-backed Shrike, Woodchat Shrike, Wood Lark, Olive-tree Warbler, Red-rumped Swallow, Common Nightingale, Black-headed wagtail, Black-headed Bunting and Corn Bunting.

Access
Ivaylovgrad Reservoir is located near the village of Borislavtsi. The area is easy accessable, it is possible to stop near the road (road is far from busy), near a water spring. Press P on the map for directions. Very scarce public transport (once-twice a day). Easy to walk and explore quite a large area around. It is safe to leave the car near the road. In general you can see most of the birds in the area in one to one and a half hours.
