This largest forest complex in West Flanders is a good area for woodpeckers and other forest birds and is also a beautiful area for walking.
With 540 hectares, the Vagevuurbos and the Bulskampveld form the largest forest complex in West Flanders. An area with heather, pools, pine and spruce forest. The area is part of the Bulskampveld landscape park. Birds you may encounter in the area are Middle Spotted Woodpecker, Black Woodpecker, Crested Tit, Coal Tit, Tawny Owl, Little Owl, Sparrowhawk, Common Buzzard, Goldcrest and Firecrest.

Nederlands: Het Vagevuurbos en het Bulskampveld vormen samen met 540 hectare het grootste boscomplex van West-Vlaanderen. Een gebied met heide, poelen, dennenbos en sparrenbos. Het Vagevuurbos en het Bulskampveld maken deel uit van het landschapspark Bulskampveld. Vogels die je in het gebied kunt tegenkomen zijn Middle Spotted Woodpecker, Black Woodpecker, Crested Tit, Coal Tit, Tawny Owl, Little Owl, Sparrowhawk, Common Buzzard, Goldcrest en Firecrest.
Parking is possible at Parking Aanwijs, Reigerlosstraat 69, 8730 Beernem. From there, the area can be explored on foot. There are many trails and many different walks to do. The route indicated on the map is a circular walk of approximately 7 km.
