In de Doode Bemde you can perceive a lot of water birds as breeding birds, plastering or migrating. Certified Nature Reserve, Natura 2000 area.
The valley contains wetland areas, which periodically flood due to the regime in the river Dijle. It is a mosaic of small fields, poplar plantations and groves, pastures and meadows, rough and reed fields, ponds and canals. So you can see a lot of different birds.
It can be reached by the De Lijn bus from Leuven or Brussels. There are a few parking lots around the area. To explore the area you need to walk.
