This place is used as a buffer basin for excess water. The wetland attracts different species of birds.
The Pittem buffer basin was constructed to prevent flooding. In addition to the water management function, the basin also has a recreational and ecological function and a one-kilometre walking path was constructed. Here you can take a quiet walk. The buffer basin attracts several species of mostly common birds. Birds you may encounter in the area include Eurasian Green Woodpecker, Common Snipe, Eurasian Moorhen, Eurasian Coot, Mallard, Mute Swan, Grey Heron, Reed Warbler, Little Grebe, Common Shelduck, House Martin, Great Tit and Eurasian Blue Tit.
