Description
The Nordkette mountain range is located near Innsbruck. The top of 2,300m-high Mount Hafelekar can be easily reached from the center of Innsbruck. In good weather you have a beautiful view of the Inntall and the mountain peaks. So if you visit Innsbruck you have the possibility to reach an alpine environment in a few minutes. Going in eastern direction for about 1 km. Birds like White-winged Snowfinch, Alpine Accentor, Water Pipit and Yellow-billed Chough are very easy to be found.

Access
Starting at the city center you take the Hungerburgbahn from Station Congress to Station Hungerburg (there ist also a parking lot, see the P in the map). With the Nordkettenbahnen cable car you are in a few minutes at the top (about 2300m). See the link below for schedule and tickets for the cable car. There is a restaurant in the mountain station with a terrace and there are several beautiful hiking trails to various mountain peaks in the area.
