Description

The mountains, cliffs, and river near Geghard Monastery create a perfect home for many birds. You can spot birds of prey soaring above (Golden Eagle, Griffon Vulture, Bearded Vulture), birds nesting on the rocky cliffs (Red-billed Chough, Blue Rock Thrush), and songbirds in the trees (Long-tailed Tit, Eurasian Blue Tit). The peaceful setting makes it a great place to enjoy nature and birdwatching.

Geghard Monastery is located 40 km from Yerevan, making it easily accessible for a short trip outside the city.

By Car: The fastest and most convenient way to reach Geghard Monastery is by car, which takes around 50 minutes from the center of Yerevan via the H3 highway. You can leave a car near the entrance. Press P on the map for directions.

By Public Transport: You can take bus 5 or 36 (Yerevan city center) then change it to bus 266 or marshrutka 52 on Mega Mall stop and go to Goght stop. After that you should go 35 minutes by foot to Geghard Monastery (the road goes uphill).

By Taxi/Ride-hailing Services: Apps like GG or Yandex.GO are a quick and affordable way to reach Geghard Monastery from Yerevan.
