Description

Created in the 1990's on the site of a former reserve - Wath Ings. Has a track record of passage waders, especially in the Autumn. Around 30 species of wader are recorded annually - including a good chance of a rarity. A range of habitats mean a good species list can be built easily in a morning or afternoon. Eurasian Tree Sparrow breed around the centre and the reedbeds have breeding Great Bittern, Water Rail and Bearded Tit. Breeding waders and wildfowl include Avocet, Garganey and Common Pochard and the gull colony is of national importance and includes Mediterranean Gull. A large Common Starling roost generally forms most winters.
