Description
RSPB Conwy is a wetland on the east bank of the Conwy estuary created from material dug out during construction of the A55 road tunnel between 1986 and 1991. The site has a visitor center with coffee shop, general shop and toilets. There are three hides and several viewing screens to get nearer the wildlife. The lagoons are the main focus and these receive a good mix of ducks, gulls and waders during the year. The lagoons provide a refuge for hundreds of waders that move off the estuary at high tide. Among the birds you can encounter are Common Shelduck, Water Rail, Black-tailed Godwit. Northern Lapwing, Eurasian Curlew, Dunlin, Eurasian Oystercatcher, Little Grebe, Sedge Warbler, Eurasian Bullfinch and Firecrest. But many more, see the birdlist below.

Access
From the A55, take junction 18 (signposted Conwy and Deganwy) and follow the brown RSPB signs. Park in the car park off the A55 and explore the trail network which has separate routes of varying lengths. The site can also be accessed by bike from Conwy or Llandudno Junction, both of which also have train stations and it isn't a long walk from these. The nearest train station is Llandudno Junction, half a mile from the reserve. The nearest bus stop is the number 27 at Tesco.
