Just down the road from YWT Wheldrake Ings, North Duffield Carrs, a hotspot for bird migration is a great pit stop or local nature reserve.
In North Duffield Carrs two hides look over the Ings, named after both bird names and birdwatchers names. Winter usually announces the arrival of various wildfowl and waders such as Whooper Swan and Greater Scaup. Spring is another migrating season where rarer waders will drop in and out of the reserve. This includes Whimbrel, Ruff and Green Sandpiper. Summer is usually quite quiet and autumn is similar to spring.
There is a small car park off the A163, near Bubwith. From there, a path leading to two hides is easy and accessible. Click on the P in the map to get directions.
