Description

Hemsted Forest is rich in different bird species. It has a gently undulating landscape and a mix of conifers and broad-leaved trees. This makes for some beautiful views across open areas and through the less-dense undergrowth beneath the evergreens. Wide hard-stone surfaced paths criss-cross the forest, together with numerous more wild and less accessible trails. Among the birds you can encounter are Common Cuckoo, Eurasian Woodcock, Eurasian Goshawk, Common Buzzard, Little Owl, Tawny Owl, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Eurasian Green Woodpecker, Common Raven, Coal Tit, Marsh Tit, Long-tailed Tit, Blackcap, Garden Warbler, Lesser Whitethroat, Goldcrest, Eurasian Nuthatch, Eurasian Treecreeper, Wren, Mistle Thrush, Redwing, Fieldfare, Song Thrush, Brambling, Eurasian Bullfinch, Greenfinch, Eurasian Siskin and European Goldfinch.
