Small lake with an additional water meadow next door and woodland.
Ballard Water Meadow is located in New Milton and consists of a small lake, water meadow and woodland. It is a Site of Importance to Nature Conservation (SINC). Among the birds you can observe are Song Thrush, Canada Goose, Peregrine Falcon, Goldcrest, Pied Wagtail, Mallard, Eurasian Kestrel, Grey Heron, European Herring Gull, European Robin, Common Chaffinch, Eurasian Bullfinch, Black-headed Gull, European Herring Gull, Grey Wagtail and Wren.
Parking on Lake Grove Road, just up from New Milton Town Centre. The parking is free in marked bay. You can also sit in your car to view the ducks, geese and gulls from the car. But you need to walk to get into the the water meadows and woods. There is also a fairly level track all round the lake.
