Description

The estuary of the River Axe is full of coastal wading birds such as břehouš rudý, ústřičník velký, volavka stříbřitá and vodouš rudonohý, a range of ducks including lžičák pestrý, hvízdák eurasijský and čírka obecná, and heathland birds like budníček menší, skřivan polní and poštolka obecná.

A visit close to high tide is best, forcing birds to high tide roosts and fields/saltmarsh. See a link to the tide table below.

Access

There is parking in Weston Super Mare, but it is best explored on foot. Also parking on the beach. Click on a P in the map to get directions. The circular route indicated on the map is about 2,5 km.
