Rainwater retention basin that has developed into a beautiful pond with reed beds. The pond and the reeds attract many birds.
Lac des Vernes is a rainwater retention basin and has the function of regulating the floods of the Nant d'Avril. Pontoons, observation points and a didactic route are arranged all around the lake. Among the birds you can see in the area are Great Bittern, Little Bittern, Spotted Crake, Water Rail, Little Grebe, Reed Warbler and Reed Bunting.

Français: Jolie zone aquatique créée pour décanter les eaux pluviales de Meyrin, afin qu'elles puissent rejoindre le Nant d'Avril. Des pontons, des points d'observation et un parcours didactique sont disposés tout autour du lac. Il n'est par contre pas possible de se baigner car les rives sont sécurisées par la végétation environnante.
From the station take tram 14 towards Meyrin-Gravière then take bus 57 at Forumeyrin towards ZYMEYSA-Gare and get off at Vernes. By car you can park on avenue Louis-Rendu.
