Skillingaryds Dämme was built as a water treatment plant. Measures taken in recent years have resulted in a new wetland and wet meadows. The new environment with shallow ponds and bushes attracts birds like Water Rail, Eurasian Moorhen, White Wagtail, Little Ringed Plover, Sand Martin, Common Kingfisher, Common Sandpiper and Common Goldeneye.
