Description

Sjötorpasjön is a good place to see wetland birds during much of the year. The surroundings (deciduous forests and farmland) are also interesting. Among the breeders are Great Crested Grebe, Mute Swan, Western Marsh Harrier and in some years Great Bittern,Red-necked Grebe and Bearded Tit. Other breeders in the neighbourhood are Red Kite , Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Long-tailed Tit and Icterine Warbler. During migration periods large flocks of Greylag Goose , Canada Goose , Mallard and Common Teal stay at the lake, often including the odd duck or goose species.

From the birding tower you may see several raptors, especially Common Buzzard, Rough-legged Buzzard, Red Kite, Black Kite, Osprey and White-tailed Eagle.
