Far out to sea, at the mouth of the river Helge, is an area with sandy meadows surrounding a large lagoon – Korran - and an open sandy beach
Especially in late summer and fall the area is filled with waders and small birds that stopped on their way south. In the lagoon area and the sandbar glands hedges including Little Tern and Avocet.
Going south on route 118 from the small town of Åhus there are signs pointing to Äspet. There is a parking place at the entry of the area. The area is best explored by walking.
Note: A major part of the area is reserve's bird sanctuary with no trespassing March 15 to September 30. But there are two observation towers (See the map) that can be reached from the parking lot down to the sea in the eastern part of the reserve. Maps are available.
A circular route around the lake Korran is only possible between October 1st and March 14th.
