Set of Islands in the Guadiana River as it passes through the city of Mérida.
Puente de Hierro is a site with easy access and and a very nice place for birdwatching. It is the left bank of the Guadiana river as it passes through the town of Mérida and from this point, you can enjoy a rich variety of birds linked to watercourses, especially the group of herons.

Se trata del margen izquierdo del río Guadiana a su paso por la localidad y desde este punto, podemos disfrutar de una rica variedad de aves ligadas a los cursos de agua, en especilal a grupo de las ardeidas.
The area is located in the vicinity of the Mérida Congress Center in the area known as Polígono Nueva Ciudad (Carretera del Matadero). You can park the vehicle in the vicinity of the congress palace. Click on the P in the map for directions. From there you can walk to the shore.
