This former urban park of 9 hectares in Valladolid is being transformed to a reserve with native fauna and flora and different habitats.
Reserva Biológica Urbana El Tomillo is located in the northeast of Valladolid. A biological nature reserve is being created on the grounds of a former degraded city park. 360 new trees, 1,400 shrubs and more than 2,000 plants will be planted, and ponds will be created. The works will begin in March 2024 and full completion is expected in February 2025. For know, mostly common birds are observed in the area, but that might change in the near future.

Espagnol: La reserva biológica ‘El Tomillo’ será un refugio natural de gran biodiversidad en el entorno del ámbito urbano de Valladolid. Las obras se iniciarán en marzo 2024. Se plantarán 360 nuevos árboles, cerca de 1.400 arbustos y más de 2.000 plantas aromáticas, además de generar una pradera naturalizada de 11.757 metros cuadrados. Por ello se prevé la finalización completa en febrero de 2025.
