Description
The Marismas de Isla Cristina ("Cristina Island marshes") are located at the mouth of the river Carreras. Marismas Isla Cristina is a atural area with easy access and a multitude of bird species. There are bird-watching points in several places by the marshes and Via Verde (Green trail), from the former Huelva-Ayamonte railway, crosses it lengthwise. This trail is particularly suitable for hiking and cycling thanks to the slight slope of the railway. Among the birds you can encounter are Common Shelduck, Eurasian Spoonbill, Little Tern, Sandwich Tern, Kentish Plover, Common Ringed Plover, Avocet, Black-winged Stilt, Whimbrel, Eurasian Curlew, Common Redshank, Zitting Cisticola, Crested Lark and Sardinian Warbler.
