Description
Laguna de El Oso is a reserve composed of a pair of steppe lagoons that are located within the municipality of El Oso. Common Crane winter here and it holds a big population of Greylag Goose. Other birds you can find here in winter are Barnacle Goose, but in the surroundings also Great Bustard and Little Bustard. In spring you can see Garganey, Common Shelduck, Avocet, Black-winged Stilt and Common Snipe, White Stork, Little Ringed Plover. In summer Black-bellied Sandgrouse use the lagoon to drink and get drink water for their young.
The reserve is located in the heart of the cereal plain, surrounded by large spots of pine forests, where you can easily find more interesting bird species.

Access
You reach El Oso leaving the A-6 motorway (Madrid – A Coruña) at the height of Sanchidrián. From the village of El Oso you can access the reserve by the road of San Pascual or by the path of Villanueva de Gómez. On both roads you will find an observatory from which to observe the birds as well as several information tables. To get the keys to the observatories it is necessary to get them in the village bar or in the town hall.
