The Contraparada del Río Segura is a small dam in the river Segura. In this place the major ditches spring that irrigate the Huerta de Murcia.
La Contraparada del río Segura is an easily accessible place to walk along the river Segura. It combines the landscape of riverside forest, reed beds and orchards, which allows observing a variety of species in a short tour. Among the birds you can see are Golden Oriole, Barn Swallow, House Martin, Sand Martin, Red-rumped Swallow, Crag Martin, Common Swift, Pallid Swift, Common Chiffchaff, Black Redstart, Common Chaffinch, Great Tit, Blackcap, Sardinian Warbler, Long-tailed Tit, Common Kingfisher, Eurasian Coot, Eurasian Moorhen, Mallard, Great Cormorant, Grey Heron, Black-crowned Night Heron, Cetti's Warbler, Common Nightingale, Sedge Warbler, Common Waxbill, Western Olivaceous Warbler, Song Thrush, House Sparrow, Spotted Flycatcher, European Goldfinch, European Robin, Eurasian Hoopoe and Eurasian Kestrel.

Espagnol: La Contraparada del río Segura es un azud, pequeña presa, en el cauce del río Segura. En este lugar nacen los acequias mayores que riegan la Huerta de Murcia. Lugar de fácil acceso y acondicionado para pasear junto al cauce del río Segura. Combina el paisaje de bosque de ribera, cañaveral y huerta lo que permite observar en un pequeño recorrido variedad de especies.
The area can be accessed from two towns of Javalí Nuevo and Javalí Viejo, following the directions on the signs that indicate how to get to the Contraparada. It has an area to park the car in a dirt parking lot next to the Segura riverbed.
