Forest and picnic area near Obrenovac at the confluence of Kolubara River into Sava.
Zabran is a deciduous forest, mainly oak, and some poplar, surrounded by Sava and Kolubara rivers. The presence of many old trees attracts numerous woodpecker species, including Great Spotted Woodpecker, Middle Spotted Woodpecker, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Grey-headed Woodpecker, Eurasian Green Woodpecker, and Black Woodpecker.
Some of the forest area is flooded in winter and spring, forming ponds, like the Jazbinska Pond ('Burrower Pond') in the northernmost part of the forest near the Sava riverbank.
The local road to Zabran forest departs north from the roundabout on the regional road Barič - Obrenovac. There are several parking places along this road, click one of the 'P' markings for directions.
The forest area is best explored by walking along the trim track that passes through the main forest area. It is also possible to walk or ride a bike over the embankments that separate the forest from the riverbanks.
