A nice lake situated outside Sacalaz village. It attracts migrants, waders and also pikkuhaikara can be observed.
Balta Carol Lake actually consists of three separate lakes. One lake is popular among fishermen, while the other two are now totally covered with reedbeds. The region of Timis is known to have too little number of lakes, that is why this lake can be interesting for a tourist visiting Timisoara. It has mostly common waterbirds breeding here, as well as a great number of migrants and other waders. pikkuhaikara is probably the most interesting bird you can see here.
Balta Carol Lake is located 10 km west of Timisoara, just outside Sacalaz village. Access is from the road 59A - so if you are driving from Serbia to Timisoara this is a nice place to stop and take a look at birds in Romania. Click on the P in the map for directions.
