Sete Cidades has two large lagoons: Lagoa Verde and Lagoa Azul. It’s one of the best places on the island to find migrant and other bird species. I recommend visiting this beautiful place during the week and early in the morning to avoid the crowds. Among the birds you can see here are Rață fluierătoare, Rață fluierătoare americană, Rață cucuiată, Corcodel cu cioc gros, Chiră de baltă, Aușel cu cap galben, Silvie cu cap negru, Mierlă, Măcăleandru, Graur, Cinteză and Stârc cenușiu.

For parking, the best place is the free parking situated in the sandy area of Lagoa Verde (there are a lot of domestic ducks in this sandy area, so you’ll probably recognize without problems. Best seen on foot to explore the area and bring your telescope!
