Mixed-biotope area, close to the San River in Sanok with a significant diversity of fauna and flora. It contains a fen nature trail.
Sosenki is a relatively small area in the Sanok town, being partially covered in pine trees (for which the Polish name derives from). The main areas of interest here, putting aside nearby San River banks, are: pine tree park, two fishing ponds, surrounded by mixed shrubbery and trees, and also a fen - with its own nature/educational trail. The fen is a part of the PLB180003 "Góry Słonne" Natura 2000 area. It's mainly known for species of water-dependant birds, but also some woodland species and many birds of prey, having their territories there and nearby. Some species of water-dependant birds that can be found here in nesting season are: Mallard, Common Teal, Mute Swan, Little Grebe, Water Rail, Eurasian Moorhen, Eurasian Coot, Northern Lapwing, Little Ringed Plover, Common Snipe, Common Sandpiper, Black Stork, Grey Heron, Great Egret, Common Kingfisher, Penduline Tit, Sedge Warbler, Reed Warbler, Great Reed Warbler, Western Yellow Wagtail, White Wagtail and Reed Bunting.
Many other water-dependant species can be met during migration or during winter, especially if the surface of ponds isn't covered with ice, like: Garganey, Northern Shoveler, Gadwall, Eurasian Wigeon, Northern Pintail, Common Pochard, Ferruginous Duck, Tufted Duck, Common Goldeneye, Smew, Goosander, Great Crested Grebe, Spotted Crake, Ruff, Jack Snipe, Green Sandpiper, Spotted Redshank, Common Greenshank, Wood Sandpiper, Common Redshank, Black-headed Gull, Common Gull, Caspian Gull, Common Tern, Black-throated Diver, Red-throated Diver, Great Cormorant, Little Bittern, Black-crowned Night Heron, Savi's Warbler and Grey Wagtail. Some birds of prey that can be found here in nesting season: European Honey-buzzard, Lesser Spotted Eagle, Golden Eagle, Western Marsh Harrier, Sparrowhawk, Eurasian Goshawk, White-tailed Eagle, Common Buzzard, Tawny Owl, Long-eared Owl, Eurasian Kestrel and Eurasian Hobby. Migrating/wintering species: Osprey, Hen Harrier, Montagu's Harrier, Black Kite, Rough-legged Buzzard, Red-footed Falcon and Peregrine Falcon.
Forest/park and shrubbery is also home to many woodland species, such as: Common Wood Pigeon, Common Cuckoo, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Grey-headed Woodpecker, Eurasian Green Woodpecker, Black Woodpecker, Golden Oriole, Eurasian Jay, Common Raven, Coal Tit, Marsh Tit, Willow Tit, Eurasian Blue Tit, Great Tit, Icterine Warbler, Common Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Long-tailed Tit, Blackcap, Lesser Whitethroat, Goldcrest, Eurasian Nuthatch, Eurasian Treecreeper, Short-toed Treecreeper, Wren, Common Starling, Mistle Thrush, Song Thrush, Blackbird, Spotted Flycatcher, European Robin, Common Chaffinch, Hawfinch, Greenfinch, European Goldfinch. Some, like Eurasian Bullfinch and Eurasian Siskin can be met here only during migration/winter. Other species, more related to fen and open habitats in general are: Common Quail, Common Pheasant, Corn Crake, White Stork, Red-backed Shrike, Magpie, Hooded Crow, Eurasian Skylark, Grasshopper Warbler, Greater Whitethroat and Yellowhammer.
