In the past this was an important waterway, today it is a natural area that has been given back to the birds.
The Verlamde Vaart once was an important waterway. You can make a nice, short walk along this former waterway, where space has been made for birds such as Common Shelduck, Mute Swan and Great Egret. On the dike you will also find smaller birds such as European Goldfinch, Common Chaffinch, Eurasian Blue Tit, Great Tit and Wren. You can walk on the paved cycle path on the dike, or you can choose to walk along the water.

The Verlamde Vaart is located east of the town of Fijnaart. You walk along an old water barrier and waterway. Approximately 3 km there and back. By bike is ideal, then you cycle right through it, there is a bench halfway along the cycle path. If you come by car, you can park on the north side (Boerenweg) and limited on the south side (Blaaksedijk).
