The Muggenwaard and the Galeiwaard are part of the Grote Noordwaard in National Park Biesbosch. Due to the unique freshwater tide, mud flats become exposed. At low tides, thousands of birds use the mudflats to find food. The polder is an important foraging place for, for example,Maçarico-de-bico-direito, Perna-vermelha-comum and Combatente. During bird migration the Muggenwaard is a nice place to see Pilrito de Temminck, Pilrito-de-bico-comprido or Pilrito-pequeno. Among these huge numbers are occasionally also found rarities such as Perna-verde-fino or Pilrito-peitoral. Tip: take into account the tides. Nederlands: De Muggenwaard en de Galeiwaard zijn onderdeel van de Grote Noordwaard in de Biesbosch. Door het unieke zoetwatergetijde komen slikplaten hier droog te liggen. Op goede momenten gebruiken duizenden vogels de slikplaten om eten te vinden. De polder is een belangrijke foerageerplaats voor bijvoorbeeld Maçarico-de-bico-direito, Perna-vermelha-comum en Combatente. Tijdens de vogeltrek is de Muggenwaard een mooie plek om bijvoorbeeld Pilrito de Temminck, Pilrito-de-bico-comprido of Pilrito-pequeno te kunnen zien. Tussen deze enorme aantallen worden af en toe ook zeldzaamheden gevonden zoals Perna-verde-fino of Pilrito-peitoral. Tip: houd rekening met de hoogte van het water. The area is accessible from the dike. There are no parking spaces near the area, so carefully parking your car at the side of the road at the entrance to the ramp is the best option. Take (speeding) cars into account. The area has a good overview from the cycle path, but also pay attention to passing cyclists. The side road in the Muggenwaard is officially not accessible to traffic, but you can enter this road on foot.

Nederlands: Het gebied is toegankelijk vanaf de banddijk. Er zijn geen parkeervakken in de buurt van het gebied, dus voorzichtig je auto in de aan de kant van de weg zetten bij de inrit naar de loswal is de beste optie. Houd daarbij rekening met (hardrijdende) auto's. Vanaf het fietspad is het gebied goed te overzien, let ook hierbij op voorbijkomende fietsers. De zijweg in de Muggenwaard (haaks op de banddijk) is officieel niet toegankelijk voor verkeer, lopend mag je wel deze weg in.
