The Dommel is a small river that flows through the Brabant landscape. It flows through all kinds of biotopes: grassland, forest and heath.

Description

More than 50 bird species can be seen in the Dommeldal , including typical river birds such as Common Kingfisher, Grey Wagtail, Reed Warbler, Water Rail, Marsh Warbler, and Grasshopper Warbler. In the areas along the river Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Common Cuckoo, European Honey-buzzard, Black Kite and even Common Quail are seen. You will also find Garden Warbler, Blackcap, European Stonechat, Greater Whitethroat, Pied Flycatcher, Common Redstart and Yellowhammer.

Nederlands: De Dommel is een riviertje dat door het Brabantse landschap stroomt door allerlei biotopen: grasland, bos, en heide. Er zijn meer dan 50 vogelsoorten in dit deel van het Dommeldal ten zuiden van Eindhoven te zien, waaronder typische riviervogels als Common Kingfisher, Grey Wagtail, Reed Warbler, Water Rail, Marsh Warbler, en Grasshopper Warbler. In de gebieden langs de rivier worden onder meer Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Common Cuckoo, European Honey-buzzard, Black Kite en zelfs de Common Quail gezien. You can park at Café-Camping De Volmolen, Volmolen 1, Waalre-Riethoven. Click on the P in the map for directions. From the parking you can take a walk of about 6 km.
