Description
Den Treek is an extensive estate with forests, agriculture and heathland and covers almost 2200 hectares. On Den Treek the dry nature of the higher Utrechtse Heuvelrug gradually changes into the wet nature of the lower Gelderse Vallei. As a result, many different habitats and therefore also many bird species can be seen. From heath birds to forest birds and fens with Little Grebe and Common Snipe. Birds that you can see here during a walk are various species of woodpeckers, Crested Tit, Common Raven, Eurasian Siskin, Wood Lark, Common Crossbill, Tree Pipit, Eurasian Woodcock, European Stonechat, Northern Wheatear, Whinchat, Goldcrest, Common Redstart, Pied Flycatcher, European Honey-buzzard, Eurasian Hobby and in winter Great Grey Shrike.

Op Den Treek gaat de droge natuur van de hoger gelegen Utrechtse Heuvelrug geleidelijk over in de natte natuur van de lager gelegen Gelderse Vallei. Landgoed Den Treek is private property but open to all nature lovers. You will find mapped out walking routes on the information panels at the various parking lots. Walking route Akkersesteeg of 4.1 km, walking route De Troet of 4.5 km and walking route Ringheuvels of 4.8 km. On the map below you can see the 5.5 km long walking route Langeveen to Vogelwater. This walk starts from the parking lot at Waterlooweg (see the map). The walk leads past forests with coniferous and deciduous trees, former drifting sand, along avenues and open, wet grasslands and along lake Vogelwater.

Nederlands: Landgoed Den Treek is privébezit maar opengesteld voor alle liefhebbers van natuur. Op de informatiepanelen bij de diverse parkeerplaatsen vind je uitgestippelde wandelroutes. Wandelroute Akkersesteeg van 4,1, km, wandelroute De Troet van 4,5 km en wandelroute Ringheuvels van 4,8 km. Op de kaart hieronder zie je de 5,5 km lange wandelroute van Langeveen tot Vogelwater. Deze wandeling start vanaf de parkeerplaats aan Waterlooweg (Klik op de P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving naar de parkeerplaats). De wandeling voert langs bossen met naald- en loofbomen, voormalig stuifzand, langs lanen en open, natte graslanden en langs ’t Vogelwater.
