Varied wet forest area, part of National Park Loonse and Drunense dunes, with many species of woodpeckers.
De Brand ('The Fire') is a small-scale landscape with old forest and small meadows. Originally there was peat here, which was completely dug up around 1300 to burn. After that period De Brand was planted with oak forest and meadows were laid in the 20th century. The area is now an alternation of flowery meadows and moist forests. Many birds you can see here and very good for woodpeckers: Black Woodpecker, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Middle Spotted Woodpecker, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, also Eurasian Bullfinch and other forest species.
Parking along the road (see the P on the map).
