From the harbour and the pier of Ameland you have a good view of the many tidal parts of the Wadden Sea. A perfect place for resting waders. The birds forage and rest on the tidal flats. Many Bar-tailed Godwit, Common Redshank and Eurasian Oystercatcher can be found here. There are also many different types of gulls to see, such as Lesser Black-backed Gull and Great Black-backed Gull, European Herring Gull, Black-headed Gull and terns. Also keep an eye out for Common Goldeneye and Common Guillemot.

The harbour is located near the village of Nes on Ameland. Easily accessible by bicycle. Car park at the port. Note: paid parking.
