The mouth of the river Swakop is at the southern end of Swakopmund. Many birds can be observed at the little pond and along the coast.
This estuary on the southern edge of the town of Swakopmund attracts many birds and is easy to access. Many European waders that winter here can be observed. Among the birds you can encounter in the area are Greater Flamingo, Lesser Flamingo, Great White Pelican, South African Shelduck, Cape Teal, Little Grebe, Red-knobbed Coot, African Oystercatcher, White-fronted Plover, Common Greenshank, Whimbrel and Grey Plover.
Easy accessible by walking from the centre of Swakopmund (1,5 km) or from the adjoining campgrounds and resorts. Click on the P in the map for directions or coordinates.
