Description

The N'Fiss Reservoir (also known as 'Barrage de Lalla Takerkoust' or 'Barrage du Oued N'Fiss') is a 7 km long artificial lake. Although the reservoir is a popular tourist destination it is often attractive for birds, especially in spring and autumn and depending on the water level. To get good views of the birds a spotting scope is essential. Among the birds you can encounter are Ruddy Shelduck, Black-winged Stilt, Common Ringed Plover, Little Ringed Plover, Common Sandpiper, Green Sandpiper, Common Greenshank, Gull-billed Tern, Little Egret, Cattle Egret, Eurasian Spoonbill, Osprey, European Bee-eater, Great Grey Shrike and Black Wheatear.
