A very nice walk along the gardens, the Thika river and the Thika Falls, on the premises of the Blue Post Hotel, an early British colonial place.
The Blue Post Hotel is a nice place for a stop over. Take the walk through the gardens and along the river, starting with the Thika Falls. This is a very good place to see African Finfoot, one of Africa's most elusive waterbirds. Also a nice place for many garden birds and Sykes' monkey (Cercopithecus mitis albogularis).
The Blue Post hotel is located just off the highway in the town of Thika, 40 km north of Nairobi. Be careful to follow the correct road and not to drive against traffic. Click on the P in the map for directions or coordinates.
Hotel Blue Post, Book at the Reception desk, cost 400 kes (about 3 euro/dollar). Nature walk, ask for Dickson Kilonzo +254 720 724233.
