From the village of Valnontey you can begin a hike by following the river upstream, which gives you a good chance of seeing White-throated Dipper and Grey Wagtail. You can choose to walk all the way to the end of the valley, or walk up to Alpe Money and hike a loop which gives you more chance of seeing the typical birdspecies of the alpine mountains.
In Gran Paradiso National Park, the Bearded Vulture can be seen thanks to the reintroduction programme. This is especially likely during the Alpe Money mountain hike where the bird can float by looking for cadavers. Here you can also see Golden Eagle, Alpine Swift, Blue Rock Thrush, Common Rock Thrush, Yellow-billed Chough, Red-billed Chough and with a lot of searching and a bit of luck Wallcreeper.

You can park the car in Valnontey from where you can hike. Bring poles and good walking shoes, because the hike can be slippery and muddy and you have to cross multiple streams if you walk up to Alpe Money. The Alpe Money hike is about 16 km long.
