In the heart of Tolfa hills, Tolfaccia hill and Freddara wood is the best site in central Italy to meet Red Kite wintering (+100 individuals) and breeding.
Tolfaccia hill and Freddara wood in the Monti della Tolfa (Tolfa hills) are a great spot for observing Red Kite. In the open grassland among the coppice woods it is also common to see Black Kite, Short-toed Snake Eagle, European Honey-buzzard, Stone-curlew and many other species.
It is possible to reach Tolfaccia hill by car. Click on the P in the map for directions. The best way to explore the site is continuing on foot towards Freddara wood.
