Description

Kilberry Bog is a fantastic winter birding area as it has Long-eared Owl, Barn Owl and sometimes Short-eared Owl. It has Common Buzzard, Merlin, Sparrowhawk, Eurasian Kestrel, Peregrine Falcon and Hen Harrier. There are Mallard, Common Teal, Common Snipe, Jack Snipe, European Golden Plover, Northern Lapwing, Common Ringed Plover and occasionally Green Sandpiper. It also has Mute Swan and Whooper Swan.

Access

You can access Kilberry Bog by car as far as the edge then walk around. There are several laneways which lead to it and cars can be parked at the roadside so long as you don't block access or gateways. Click on the P in the map for directions.

As well as the birds listed earlier, there are a lot of small songbirds like Yellowhammer, European Stonechat, Meadow Pipit, Eurasian Skylark, Reed Bunting and various finches.
