Description

The small Rif wetland is located in the area of Melrakkaslétta on the Snaefellsnes peninsula in northwest Iceland. It is a breeding area for many birds and has an ideal location between the coast and the mountains. Among the birds you can encounter are Red-throated Diver, Slavonian Grebe, Common Eider, Red-necked Phalarope, Red-breasted Merganser, Brent Goose, Whooper Swan, Arctic Tern, Common Ringed Plover, Black-tailed Godwit, Common Redshank, Arctic Skua, Iceland Gull and Glaucous Gull.

Rif wetland is located at the end of the Snaefellsnes peninsula in northwest Iceland. You can park at the bird hide. Click on the P in the map for directions.
