This lighthouse on the northern point of the Reykjanes peninsula is a good place for watching seabirds.
The Gardur Lighthouse is located on the northern point of the Reykjanes peninsula. It was one of the first lighthouses built in Iceland, dating back to 1897. The lighthouse and its surroundings are a good pleace for seabird watching. Looking at the sea from spring to autumn can produce flocks of Manx Shearwater. Also Northern Gannet, Northern Fulmar, occasional European Storm Petrel, skuas and other seabirds.
You can drive to the lighthouse by car, but you can also walk from the village. Click on a P in the map for directions.
