Description

West of Porto Lagos lies several kilometers long Mandra Beach, consisting of one beach bar, one camp, one tavern, a line of summer cottages, and several temporary wetlands in the hinterland, usually flooded in winter and spring. In late June, I found only smaller lakes and a few ponds remaining.

There were quite a few Collared Pratincole (common and widespread in the area), Levant Sparrowhawk, Black-headed Bunting, Woodchat Shrike, Eurasian Oystercatcher, Crested Lark, Calandra Lark, Cetti's Warbler. Soaring birds included White Stork, Great White Pelican, Dalmatian Pelican, and Short-toed Snake Eagle.
