Charamida is a less watched wetland on Lesvos. But the marsh and the surrounding area attract many interesting birds.
At the south of the Mytilini peninsula is Charamida (or Haramida) Marsh. Easy to get to, lots of birds can be found there. In spring it is sometimes difficult to view the pools due to the tall reeds. In autumn the site is dry but still attracts many migrants and Sardinian Warbler occurs here year-round. Other birds you van observe in the area include Crag Martin, Spotted Flycatcher, Masked Shrike, Black Redstart, European Stonechat, Peregrine Falcon, Glossy Ibis, Black-winged Stilt, Northern Wheatear, Ferruginous Duck, Garganey, Eurasian Wryneck, Chukar, Eastern Olivaceous Warbler and Cretzschmar's Bunting.
Easy to explore on foot, by bike and by car. You can make different stops along the road. See the map for the route and hotspots. Click on a P in the map for directions.
