A mix of farmland, open fields, small lakes and villages. Great variety of species and a hotspot for migratory birds in autumn and spring.
Zülpicher Börde is an almost flat landscape with small villages and towns area and open, agricultural areas that are only occasionally divided by field trees, rows of trees and hedges. Some larger and smaller excavation lakes can be found. With the prevailing westerly winds, the area lies in the lee of the Eifel and is therefore drier and warmer than expected. Zülpicher Börde is a valuable natural area and offers a home to numerous rare birds and is a hotspot for migratory birds in autumn and spring.
