The bird sanctuary 'Vineyards between Rüdesheim and Lorchhausen' north of the Rhine is around 845 hectares in size.
The south-west exposed vineyards near Rüdesheim are characterized, among other things, by the warm, dry and warm winter steep slopes of the Taunus slope towards the Middle Rhine. It is a bird sanctuary for Peregrine Falcon and Red-backed Shrike, but it is also an important habitat for Rock Bunting, Cirl Bunting, Eurasian Wryneck, Northern Wheatear and Eurasian Hobby.
Bus routes 171, 181, 187 to the Rüdesheim (Rhein) Bahnhof stop

The area around the Rüdesheimer Berg has been interesting for "connoisseurs" since the 9th century, because it includes several of the best vineyards in Germany: 90% of the approximately 90 hectares of cultivation area are used for Riesling. Accordingly, a vineyard hike can be easily combined with a bird excursion!
