Description
Storchenkolonie Schierstein is located along the Rhine. For such a small area, the biodiversity is rich. The location directly on the Rhine and at Schiersteiner harbor, the ponds and the meadowland at the pumping station make the area a favorable habitat for breeding birds and suitable land for migratory birds and winter guests. The area is home to a large breeding colony of White Stork. Other birds you can encounter include Water Rail, Great Bittern, Great Crested Grebe, Common Kingfisher, Eurasian Coot, Eurasian Moorhen, Grey Heron, Great Cormorant, Rose-ringed Parakeet and Red Kite.

Storchenkolonie Schierstein is located on the banks of the Rhine between Schierstein and Walluf near Wiesbaden. The area can be reached by bike or by car. Parking is available at the Johannisfeld car park in Walluf or at the Schierstein harbor. Press P on the map for directions to a parking.
